At Martella Tiling Services Inc., we understand that tile installation can be quite a challenge and as is viewed as a stressful or laborious task. However, with a little preparation, you can handle your renovation work quickly and easily.

As experts in tiling, we’ve created a handy checklist to help you complete your renovation project with as little stress as possible. Follow our checklist to install tiles correctly, so that you can get back to the other essential things in life.

Measure the room
You will need to measure the room in which you will be installing the tiles to determine how many square feet you will need to purchase.

Consider waste
You also have to consider wastage when determining how many tiles to buy. There will be cuts, angles, and potentially broken tiles, so you cannot purchase just enough tile for the square footage of the room.

Purchase tiles
Select a tile style you like, and one you think will complement the room. Once you find a tile that works for your project, then proceed to purchase the correct amount.

Clean the area to be installed
To prepare for the work to begin, the area must be cleaned, and any debris, such as nails, screws, dust, and scraps of drywall should be removed.

Ensure there is a proper subfloor
You must ensure there is a proper subfloor before installing the tiles. An inadequate subfloor may cause the tiles to crack or create an uneven installation.

Purchase material to install tiles
Ensure you purchase the correct materials to install the tiles. It includes cement or glue (depending on the type of installation), grout, and sealer.

Determine the pattern for the tile installation
Before installing the tiles, ensure you determine a pattern for their installation - brick pattern, stacked pattern, are just some options. You must also measure the room for the chosen pattern style to determine how to start the installation.

Install the tiles
Once all the prep work gets done, you can begin installing tiles.

Finishing the work
Once the tile installation is complete, you can now do the finishing work, such as grout, sealer, and caulking.
